September 20 & 21 - Foothills Trail: Carbonado to Fairfax Bridge

To meet back-to-back pack dog requirements, each day will offer an 8-mile hike. Two title legs will be awarded for the successful completion of these back-to-back hikes. Participants will also have the opportunity each day to meet the day pack dog requirement by hiking a 10-mile hike on either day. One title leg will be awarded for the successful completion of one 10-mile hike on one day. If you are planning for a 10-mile leg, please let Pack Hike Coordinators, Ross and Angie Luengen, know ahead of time. Their contact info is below.
Pack hiking event fees will be $15 dollars for members and $20 for non-members for the two-day hike and $10 dollars for members and $15 dollars for non-members for the one day, 10-mile hike.
Each packing dog must be at least 18 months old and have completed at least one training workout consisting of 6 miles carrying their pack weight. A veterinarian’s certificate of the dog’s weight must be provided. The weight may be taken up to 7 days prior to the hike. Weights may be noted on stationery, business cards, invoices, receipts or other documentation that demonstrates the veterinarian’s certification via signature.

Cascade GSMDC is supporting the AKC Fit Dog Club to promote walking with your dog for fitness. Club members are encouraged to invite others to join them on casual walks with their Swissy in their local area. Check out our dedicated Facebook page “Cascade GSMD Fit Dog” where time and location of upcoming walks are posted.
