The Cascade GSMDC will be hosting back-to-back GSMDCA Pack Hikes on Saturday, May 24th and Sunday May 25th on the Foothills Trail: Carbonado to Fairfax Bridge. We will meet at 8:30 am to weigh packs and fill out paperwork; hikes will begin at 8:45 am. Each hike should be a little over three hours.
Foothills Trail: Carbonado to Fairfax Bridge
May 24 & 25 2025 Start: 8:30am
47.1068, -122.0468
Trailhead parking is along the main road on both the north and south sides.
Millersylvania State Park
June 7 & 8 2025 Start: 8:30am
12245 Tilley Rd S, Olympia, WA 98512
Note: this pack hike aligns with the annual meeting and social event on June 8th. We plan on hiking before the meeting. This is an excellent opportunity to join us for a fun hike mid-pack hike as well since we will be looping through the park.
You and your dog(s) are welcome to join the hike as a casual event if you are not packing or are interested in packing but just want to learn more! Joining us for fun? We are an AKC Fit Dog club, so these hikes are also AKC Fit Dog hikes!
To meet back-to-back pack dog requirements, each day will offer an 8-mile hike. Two title legs will be awarded for the successful completion of these back-to-back hikes. Participants will also have the opportunity each day to meet the day pack dog requirement by hiking a 10-mile hike on either day. One title leg will be awarded for the successful completion of one 10-mile hike on one day. If you are planning for a 10-mile leg, please let Pack Hike Coordinators, Ross and Angie Luengen, know ahead of time. Their contact info is below.
Pack hiking event fees will be $15 dollars for members and $20 for non-members for the two-day hike and $10 dollars for members and $15 dollars for non-members for the one day, 10-mile hike.
Each packing dog must be at least 18 months old and have completed at least one training workout consisting of 6 miles carrying their pack weight. A veterinarian’s certificate of the dog’s weight must be provided. The weight may be taken up to 7 days prior to the hike. Weights may be noted on stationery, business cards, invoices, receipts or other documentation that demonstrates the veterinarian’s certification via signature.
